AI Pin

A revolutionary wearable, simplifying interaction with language models for a seamless, hands-free tech experience. 👕

Humane has introduced the AI Pin, a £699 wearable device designed for interacting with large language models, particularly OpenAI's ChatGPT. The device, consisting of a square unit and a magnetically attachable battery pack, seeks to simplify user interaction with technology by eliminating traditional interfaces. Controlled through voice commands, gestures, a camera, and a small built-in projector, the AI Pin connects to AI models using software called AI Mic and operates on the Cosmos OS, automatically directing user queries without traditional apps.

Powered by a Snapdragon processor, the Pin requires a £24 monthly Humane subscription for a phone number and T-Mobile data coverage. While featuring voice-based messaging, calling, summarising email inboxes, and real-time translation, its primary purpose appears to be a wearable language model-powered search engine. Future updates may add navigation, shopping capabilities, and developer tools. Humane envisions the AI Pin as the initial step in a broader project, expecting improvements with advancing language models, similar to the evolution of smartphones driven by both hardware enhancements and expanded functionalities.
